Part 1 Play the hand you're dealt


For anyone who, like me, struggles at times with life's challenges, and the changes to “normal life” because of events like COVID-19.

 

Have we found that it is becoming harder to face each day?

It can be difficult to stay on top of every problem when one challenge seems to be replaced by another.

 

Here’s a little story to help us make the most of what we have.

 …

Perhaps you had a difficult childhood. Maybe you have developed a health issue. Maybe you have never enjoyed good health.

Perhaps old age has slowed you down, or employment or financial issues are a constant concern?!

 

Looking back at what was , or could have or should've been doesn't achieve very much and drags us down.

Who likes to play cards?

 Who has ever played a game of cards with friends and didn’t once receive a good hand all night?

 

It’s common in cards to not be dealt a good hand. However, we don't throw our hands up and give up. No, we wheel and deal. We discard and gather new cards. And sometimes palm off some of our bad cards to other players until we can play out the cards we have.

 

Life is like that - sometimes we get a raw deal.

 

Sometimes, for some, these difficulties may have been a lifelong thing. For others it’s a new experience.

But to look back and wish for the better days of old won’t change the current circumstances.

We have to, in effect - play the cards or the hand that we are dealt.

 

 

 

I’m reminded of a little illustration I received a few years ago that helps us to understand how we need to make the best of a tricky situation.
